Job summary

Nacogdoches Medical Center in East Texas seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our clinical team. Under supervision, you will collect specimens, perform tests on blood, urine, and body fluids, and report results in line with our quality policies.

This role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration with lab and nursing staff, and maintaining proper operation of the laboratory. Associate degree required; ASCP certification and 2 years high-complexity experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required: Medical Laboratory Technician in Laboratory Science.
• Two years’ experience in high complexity testing preferred.
• Preferred certification: Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) or equivalent.
• Preferred licensure: Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Director, obtains patient specimens, performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces, and reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the supervision and operation of the laboratory if so requested by the laboratory manager and performs any other task necessary to maintain the proper functioning of the department and the hospital.
