Job summary

LinQ Global Group is seeking a Medical Lab Tech (Generalist) in State College, PA to conduct accurate and timely analyses of blood and body fluids. The role requires proficiency across clinical laboratory departments and strict adherence to quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required.
• Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent recognized certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned laboratory testing accurately, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
• Prepare, identify, log, and process patient specimens while ensuring accurate patient and test information.
• Perform manual and automated laboratory analyses and promptly report results.
• Review results for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and delta-check requirements before release.
• Repeat testing when results are questionable, inconsistent, or outside established quality-control parameters.
• Maintain and document quality control and quality assurance standards.
• Troubleshoot instrument, procedural, and testing issues and elevate problems to supervisors when necessary.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, backup equipment, reagents, and supplies in proper working condition.
• Monitor inventory, rotate and date reagents, and help maintain adequate supplies.
• Follow laboratory and hospital policies, including safety, infection control, confidentiality, and quality assurance requirements.
• Assist with training technical personnel through demonstration of laboratory techniques and review of work when requested.
• Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement, and other laboratory quality-assurance activities.
• Assist with implementation and evaluation of new laboratory procedures, methodologies, products, and equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory workflow, accuracy, efficiency, and cost control.
• Perform specimen collection duties while strictly verifying patient identification.
• Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, hospital departments, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Perform additional laboratory-related duties and assignments as directed.

Medical Lab Tech (Generalist)

Location: State College, PA, 16801

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Primarily evening shift; 5 × 8-hour shifts per week with weekend rotation

Job Summary :

The Medical Lab Tech (Generalist) is responsible for performing accurate and timely laboratory analyses on blood and other body-fluid specimens to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The position requires proficiency across all clinical laboratory departments and adherence to established quality, safety, and patient-care standards.

Blood bank and microbiology experience is preferred.

The role works under the general supervision of the Medical Director, Laboratory Manager, Supervisors, and Section Heads and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Job Duties
