Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Lab Tech (ACSP or HEW certified) for a 36-hour weekly night shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays, in Plymouth, MA.

The role involves performing tests, quality control, phlebotomy, and instrument maintenance in a fast-paced lab. Required are a 2-year Medical Lab Technician program or associate degree and an MLT (ASCP) license, with at least six months of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Two year Medical Lab Technician Program/Associates Degree.
• MLT (ASCP) license.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas.
• Assess and report acceptable results; troubleshoot and document problems.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas; notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Attend laboratory meetings and in-service education sessions.

Duties/Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas. Departmentalized technicians will have increased technical responsibility in areas of specialization.
• Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability. Notify supervisor of problems.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Notify supervisor of operational difficulties.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Attend laboratory meetings.
• Attend in service education meetings and educational seminars as requested and other duties as needed.

Education/Experience Required

• Able to utilize analyzers and computer proficiency preferred.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 - 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range

$27.65 - $49.45

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
