Job summary

Piedmont McDuffie Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for a PRN Lab position in Thomson, GA. You will independently perform laboratory procedures and testing, applying your competency to patient samples across all ages, and ensure accurate interpretation and timely results.

The ideal candidate will have a GED with approved clinical training and a preferred Bachelor's in CLS or related field, plus MLS certification per Georgia regulations.

Qualifications

• GED/HS diploma plus sufficient college/technical courses and clinical training for technologist certification.
• Bachelor's degree in CLS/biomedical/life sciences preferred.
• Certification as medical technologist/MLS per Georgia regs required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing with competency across age groups.
• Interprets and analyzes results accurately and timely to support patient care.

Education

GED + college coursework and clinical training to satisfy technologist testing/certification requirements

Responsibilities:

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
