UNC Health in Clayton, NC seeks a Senior/Lead Technologist to perform patient testing across multiple laboratory disciplines in support of UNC HealthCare System.

This full-time, onsite role offers 40 hours per week with an evening schedule, in the Core Lab - CL. The position emphasizes advanced competency, leadership, and quality oversight to ensure accurate reporting and regulatory compliance.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science, Chemical/Biological Science or an Associate degree in Clinical Lab Technology.
• ASCP/AMT certification as applicable to degree level.
• Experience requirements vary by degree and certification as outlined (4 years for ASCP MLT, 3 years for ASCP categorical, 2 years for MT/MLS).

Responsabilidades

• Demonstrates advanced level technologist competencies in producing accurate laboratory test results including CLIA testing.
• Maintains and investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
• Acts as Senior/Lead Technologist providing technical direction and laboratory consultation.
• Gathers data for quality purposes and may assess staff competency.
• Monitors daily operation of the laboratory section or work area.
• Participates in teams and special projects (inventory management, test development, validations).
• Performs and reviews quality control and proficiency testing.
• Reviews test results for accuracy and timely corrections.
• Precepts and trains learners and new employees.
• Supports regulatory compliance initiatives.

Summary:

Performs a variety of patient testing in multiple laboratory disciplines and in specialty laboratories, in support of clinical activities in the UNCHCS.

Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates advanced level technologist competencies in producing accurate laboratory test results which includes all levels of CLIA outlined testing and problem solving.
2. Maintains and investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
3. Serves as a Senior or Lead Technologist in area of expertise. Provides technical direction to assigned personnel. Provides laboratory testing consultation to other members of the healthcare team.
4. Gathers data for quality purposes.
5. May assess testing personnel competency levels.
6. Monitors daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
7. Participates on teams or performs special projects/assignments including but not limited to inventory management, committee membership, assists with new test development and validations, linearity studies, etc.
8. Performs and reviews quality control and proficiency testing in the appropriate laboratories.
9. Reviews test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.
10. Serves as preceptor in teaching multiple types of learners and training of new employees.
11. Begins to gain knowledge of and assists with regulatory compliance endeavors.
12. Other duties as assigned.

• Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Biological Science or Associate’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology
• Licensure/Certification Requirements: If Assoc Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science or Biological Science – MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification required.
• If Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Biological Science – ASCP categorical certification in specialty area required.
• If Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science – MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification required.
• CHT/CHS(ACHI) is acceptable for Histocompatibility Laboratory.
• Professional Experience Requirements: If Assoc Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science or Biological Science with MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) – four (4) years of experience required.
• If Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Biological Science with ASCP categorical certification in specialty area – three (3) years of experience required.
• If Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science with MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification – two (2) years of experience required.
