Job summary

Piedmont Columbus Midtown is seeking a qualified Medical Technologist to perform and oversee laboratory procedures for patients of all ages. You will apply professional knowledge to ensure accurate, timely results and maintain compliance with certification and state regulations.

The role requires MT/MLS certification and Georgia licensure within 18 months if not already held, with no prior experience required beyond the specified training.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include high school diploma or GED with additional coursework and clinical training for MT certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or related life sciences preferred.
• Licensure/certification as MT/ MLS per Georgia regulations required or within 18 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing across a patient age range.
• Applies professional knowledge to execute, interpret, and analyze laboratory results accurately and timely.

Responsibilities

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
