Ensures compliance with quality control and quality assurance programs to affect the highest quality patient care.QualificationsBachelor's Degree is required.New graduates (90 days post grad) completing an accredited educational institution must be registry eligible and obtain certification within 18 months of employment. This 18-month exemption only applies to graduates where Grady Health System is their first job post-graduation.Must be certified as a Medical Technologist by:American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) orAmerican Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)National Certification Agency (NCA) orDeemed registry eligible as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) orGraduate of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited School of Medical Technology and registry eligible.ResponsibilityFollows standard operating procedures for collecting, acceptance of appropriate samples, processing and analyzing biological specimens and other substances for routine and complex laboratory tests.Integrates clinical and laboratory data to make decisions regarding possible discrepancies. Verifies results in the laboratory information system. Monitors workload to ensure timely completion for high priority samples.Executes, verifies, and documents quality control procedures. Makes decisions concerning the quality control results and institutes proper procedures to maintain accuracy and precision of testing system.Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and instruments, detects problems and performs corrective procedures.Participates in continuing education for growth and maintenance of professional competence.
