Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare, Inc. in Columbus, GA invites a Laboratory Technologist to join Piedmont Columbus Midtown. You will independently perform and interpret laboratory tests for patients of all ages in a fast-paced, precise environment.

The education path includes an H.S. diploma with college courses and clinical training for certification; a Bachelor's in clinical laboratory science is preferred. Certification by ASCP/AMT/AAB is required at hire, with provisional options if needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (GED) plus coursework and clinical training to satisfy testing for medical technologist certification.
• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, or life sciences preferred.
• No experience required; 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures for which trained and competent, and tests patients of all ages.
• Executes, interprets and analyzes laboratory findings in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
