Job Summary
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team, supporting many departments and providing high quality patient care through reliable testing.
Responsibilities
- Receive blood specimens, perform blood tests, and study the morphology of blood components.
- Conduct routine and special clinical laboratory tests using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment such as chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
- Perform antibody screening, identification, and cross-matching for blood transfusion and identify potential transfusion reactions.
- Notify nursing units and physicians of critical lab values.
- Implement new testing methods and instrumentation as technology advances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field with practical training.
- Associate’s degree acceptable with appropriate experience.
- Nationally recognized certification (MT/MLS/MLT) from ASCP or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of laboratory experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
