Job summary

SIH seeks a Laboratory Technician to receive, process, and perform limited diagnostic testing on patient specimens in our Herrin, IL lab. You will prepare samples, maintain equipment, and collaborate with certified lab professionals under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma; an associate degree is preferred. MLA-ASCP preferred. Typical compensation ranges from $17.92 to $26.88 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens.
• Prepare samples for testing and send out to reference laboratories
• Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies.
• Perform limited waived testing.
• Work under direct supervision of certified lab professionals.
• Prepare microbiology specimens, including Gram stains and rapid testing.
• Act as a liaison between lab staff and external departments.
• Participate in lab troubleshooting processes.
