Blue Shield of California\'s Health Quality Analytics (HQA) Analytics team seeks a Medical Informatics Analyst, Principal - Population Health to lead advanced analytics shaping population health strategy across the enterprise.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of HQA Analytics, this role drives high-impact analytic portfolios, informs executive decisions, and guides investments to improve outcomes, equity, utilization, and affordability across lines of business in a hybrid workplace.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor\'s degree or higher and 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 10 years of healthcare analytics experience with enterprise impact.
• Experience delivering high-complexity analyses using 5+ data sources across 5+ clinical areas.
• Experience leading high-complexity analyses with 5+ data sources and reconciled analytical approaches with analysts in other departments.
• Experience leading 3+ cross-functional initiatives or workstreams end to end, including stakeholder alignment and executive-ready deliverables.
• Project management credential (e.g., PMP) preferred

Your Role

The Healthcare Quality Affordability (HQA) Analytics team plays a key role in discovering information hidden in vast amounts of data that can lead to smarter decisions and deliver better service for our customers and contain the rising cost of healthcare. The Medical Informatics Analyst, Principal - Population Health will report to the Senior Manager of HQA Analytics. Your focus will be serving as a senior analytic and thought leader responsible for shaping population health strategy through advanced analytics and cross-enterprise influence. This role leads complex, high impact analytic portfolios that inform executive decision-making, guide population health investments, and drive improvements in outcomes, equity, utilization, and affordability across lines of business.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree. Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., MPH, MSMBA, MA, RN, RHIA) or equivalent experience leading advanced analytics is preferred


• Requires 10 years of relevant experience delivering healthcare analytics (cost, quality, utilization, and/or outcomes) with enterprise impact


• Experience in delivering high-complexity analyses using 5 or more data sources across 5 or more clinical areas, applying multivariate methods and advanced statistical graphics


• Experience in leading high-complexity analyses using 5 or more data sources and reconciled analytical approaches with analysts in other departments


• Experience leading 3 or more cross-functional initiatives or workstreams end to end, including stakeholder alignment, timeline management, and executive-ready deliverables


• Project or program management credential (e.g., PMP) and 2 or more cross-functional initiatives delivered end to end is preferred

Hybrid

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
