Job summary

AdaptHealth is seeking a Medical Equipment Technician to deliver, set up, and support respiratory and home medical equipment in patients' homes and care locations. You will educate patients and caregivers, perform equipment instruction, troubleshooting, and maintenance, and coordinate with Respiratory Department staff.

This field-based role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and a patient-focused approach; compensation is $18–$22 per hour with comprehensive

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service, field-based, delivery, or healthcare experience preferred.
• One year of healthcare technician, military service, delivery/field service with customer service interaction or related experience preferred.
• Senior level requires two years of relevant experience, including one year in a similar role.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of HME products, services, and applicable regulations.
• Perform patient assessments and re-assessments to support ongoing care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe use, care, and troubleshooting of respiratory and HME equipment.
• Respond to patient equipment issues, including under emergency conditions when required.
• Deliver, set up, retrieve, clean, and maintain equipment following safety standards.
• Process orders and complete documentation accurately to support patient care and reimbursement.
• Promote company services and products to referral sources, as appropriate.
• Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with all company policies.
• Complete required compliance training and participate in on-call rotation as scheduled.

About the Role

Medical Equipment Technician

Medical Equipment Technicians play a critical role in helping patients safely transition care into their homes, long-term care setting, clinic or any location deemed necessary to service the patient. In this role, you’ll deliver, set up, and support respiratory and home medical equipment while educating patients and caregivers – ensuring comfort, safety and independence.The Medical Equipment Technician will collaborate with Respiratory Department Staff, CPAP/BIPAP Program Managers and Operations Managers to provide equipment instruction, service, and troubleshooting for respiratory patients. The technician will set up and fit PAP patients, communicate instructions, conduct patient follow-up calls and visits.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of HME products, services, and applicable regulations
• Perform patient assessments and re assessments to support appropriate ongoing care
• Educate patients and caregivers on the safe use, care, and troubleshooting of respiratory and HME equipment
• Respond to patient equipment issues, including under emergency conditions when required
• Maintain home oxygen systems through scheduled patient visits
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and infection control standards, including proper use of PPE
• Deliver, set up, retrieve, clean, and maintain equipment in accordance with company policies and safety standards
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs; report equipment hazards or incidents as required
• Process orders and complete documentation accurately and timely to support patient care and reimbursement
• Maintain basic reimbursement knowledge to ensure proper billing for equipment and services
• Promote company services and products to referral sources, as appropriate.
• Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with all company policies and compliance program requirements
• Complete required compliance training and participate in on call rotation as scheduled
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Work Environment

Compensation

• Compensation based on experience, location and role level: $18-22 an hour
