Job description

HIV / Primary Care / Infectious Disease Physician

This physician will provide comprehensive outpatient care, manage individualized treatment plans, and support patients through prevention, wellness, chronic disease management, and long-term health outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Provide comprehensive outpatient medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s medical needs
• Conduct patient assessments, physical exams, follow-ups, and preventive care visits
• Educate patients on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and preventative health strategies
• Prescribe medications and therapies, ensuring safe and appropriate use
• Order and interpret labs, diagnostic testing, and imaging as needed
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
• Coordinate referrals to specialists when appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
• Support chronic disease management, preventive care, and overall wellness initiatives

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Active and unrestricted California physician license
• Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Infectious Disease, or a related specialty
• Minimum 2 years of physician practice experience in hospital, outpatient, private practice, or community health settings
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to diagnose and manage complex patient care needs
• Proficiency with EMR/charting systems and clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
• Current BLS certification

Preferred Background

• Experience in HIV/AIDS care, Hepatitis C treatment, infectious disease management, and/or chronic disease care
• Background in community health, LGBTQ+ care, sexual health, or underserved populations
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and the psychosocial factors that affect health outcomes
• Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations, including men and transgender women.
