Job summary

Lookout Valley Veterinary Clinic in Chattanooga, Tennessee seeks a Medical Director to lead our team, champion evidence-based care, and balance hands-on medicine with leadership. The ideal candidate will mentor junior veterinarians, refine medical protocols, ensure high clinical standards, and collaborate with staff to enhance workflow and client communication.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD degree from AVMA accredited veterinary school.
• Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Tennessee or eligible for licensure.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing small-animal general medicine and surgery.
• Proficiency in soft tissue surgery and dental care.

Responsibilities

• Lead Medical Excellence: Champion high-quality, evidence-based veterinary medicine and standardize care.
• Mentor and Develop: Coach associate veterinarians and foster clinical growth and confidence.
• Shape Clinical Standards: Establish and refine medical protocols and treatment guidelines.
• Support Team Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with technicians, assistants, client service staff, and leaders.
• Drive Practice Growth: Identify opportunities to enhance services, improve workflows, and enrich client/patient experience.
• Maintain Clinical Involvement: Continue practicing small-animal medicine while leading the medical team.
• Promote a Positive Culture: Foster respect, accountability, teamwork, and compassion.
