Job summary

Blue Ridge Care is seeking a Medical Director, PACE to lead the Winchester, VA PACE program. You will provide clinical leadership, oversee participant care, and ensure compliance with PACE regulations and organizational standards.

The role requires MD/DO with VA license, DEA registration, and board certification in Internal or Family Medicine, with geriatric experience preferred. Leadership and collaboration with the IDT are essential.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia.
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
• Ability to obtain/maintain medical staff privileges at contracted facilities.
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Geriatric Medicine certification or experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year with frail older adults/geriatric populations.
• Minimum 3 years physician leadership/medical management/administrative leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical direction and oversight of participant care per PACE regulations.
• Maintain accountability for medical care provided to PACE participants.
• Supervise medical providers and clinical staff.
• Develop, implement, evaluate clinical standards and protocols.
• Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).

Blue Ridge Care, a mission-driven not-for-profit healthcare system, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Director, PACE to lead our Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program in Winchester, Virginia. As a Medical Director, you will provide clinical leadership and oversight for our PACE program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, participant-centered medical care in accordance with PACE regulations and organizational standards.

Responsibilities:

• Provide medical direction and oversight of participant care and clinical outcomes in accordance with PACE regulations
• Maintain overall accountability for the medical care provided to PACE participants
• Provide supervision and guidance to medical providers and clinical staff
• Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical standards, medical practice guidelines, policies, and protocols
• Participate as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT)
• Monitor clinical practices to ensure adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of care
• Review quality-of-care concerns and oversee corrective action planning and implementation

Essential Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration
• Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at contracted facilities as required
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine required
• Geriatric Medicine certification or experience preferred
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working with frail older adults or geriatric populations
• Minimum three (3) years of physician leadership, medical management, or administrative leadership experience

Physical/Sensory/Cognitive Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout clinic and community settings
• Corrected vision and hearing sufficient to assess participants and complete documentation requirements
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and complex clinical decision-making
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and respond effectively in emergency situations

Work Environment:

• Exposure to typical healthcare and clinic-related hazards, including bodily fluids, communicable diseases, medications, and medical equipment
• Potential exposure to unpleasant odors and infectious materials
• Moderate travel throughout the service area and to contracted facilities may be required
