Job summary

ICON is seeking a Medical Director (Neurology) to lead medical affairs for neurology portfolios on a remote basis within the United States. The role drives medical initiatives, provides strategic medical leadership to project teams, and ensures compliant medical monitoring throughout lifecycles.

The position requires an MD or equivalent with Neurology specialization, Board Certification, and a track record of leadership in clinical research.

Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent with neurology specialization.
  • Board Certified in Neurology.
  • Experience leading and consulting in pharma/biotech/CRO settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in clinical research.
  • Willingness to travel ~10%
  • Experience with phase II–III studies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead medical affairs delivery across the portfolio, setting standards and developing the team.
  • Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
  • Offer expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring.
  • Review medical data to support project deliverables.
  • Represent Medical Affairs in BD, investigator meetings and project kick-offs.
  • Provide operational oversight within Medical Affairs as needed.

What You Will Do

You will lead medical affairs delivery across your portfolio, setting standards and developing your team.

  • Medical Monitoring

  • Offering expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensuring compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
  • Reviewing medical data on the indication, inclusion / exclusion criteria and other medical issues to ensure our overall project deliverables are achieved
  • Representing the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives, investigator meetings and project kick-off meetings.
  • Providing operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.
Your Profile

You will bring significant medical and clinical research expertise and a passion for driving research forward.

Required qualifications and experience
  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Neurology required.
  • Board Certified in Neurology
  • Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation within pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries or CRO space preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the department effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide operational management in the absence of senior management.
  • Experience working with phase II-III studies either in industry or as an investigator is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required (approximately 10%)

This position can be home based anywhere in the United States.
