Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care
Maintain and develop clinical standards across the practice
Lead, mentor, and support associate veterinarians
Serve as a clinical role model for the wider veterinary team
Conduct regular veterinarian meetings and encourage collaborative case discussion
Review medical records to maintain appropriate standards of care
Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures
Ensure appropriate management of controlled medications and medical supplies
Support compliance with relevant veterinary and workplace regulations
Partner with practice management on strategic and operational priorities
Monitor clinical performance and provide constructive coaching where appropriate
Support veterinarian recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention
Identify opportunities to introduce or expand veterinary services
Provide clinical input into equipment and resource investments
Assist with complex patient-care and client concerns
Promote effective communication between veterinarians, clients, and support teams
Contribute to the overall financial and operational performance of the practice
Maintain an active clinical caseload alongside leadership responsibilities
Applicants should hold a DVM or VMD degree and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an appropriate Kentucky veterinary licence. Candidates should also be able to obtain and maintain any additional registrations required for clinical practice.
The position is ideally suited to a veterinarian with approximately 3–5+ years of clinical experience who is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility.
Candidates should demonstrate strong diagnostic, surgical, dental, and general clinical skills, together with confidence managing a varied caseload.
Previous leadership or mentoring experience would be advantageous, although experienced veterinarians ready to progress into their first Medical Director position are also encouraged to apply.
Excellent communication, delegation, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are essential.
An interest in exotic animal medicine would be welcomed but is not essential.
