Job summary

Sheppard Pratt is seeking a Medical Director for its Child & Adolescent Service Line to lead across Towson and Elkridge campuses. The role includes overseeing six inpatient units and two day hospital programs, ensuring consistent, evidence-based care and strategic service expansion.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of experience in an acute psychiatric or behavioral health setting.
• Experience leading care teams in an acute behavioral setting.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in inpatient or partial hospitalization programs.
• MD license in Maryland with board certification in psychiatry and C&A psychiatry certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership across the Child & Adolescent Service Line.

Description

Sheppard Pratt is seeking a Medical Director for its Child & Adolescent Service Line, providing clinical and operational leadership across our Towson and Elkridge campuses. This physician leader will oversee six child and adolescent inpatient units and two day hospital programs, ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care across the continuum of services.

What to expect:

The Medical Director is a senior psychiatry leader responsible for the strategic development, growth, and clinical oversight of the Child & Adolescent Service Line. In addition to maintaining a direct patient care caseload, the Medical Director oversees the clinical practice of providers across the service line, drives quality and safety initiatives, and partners closely with hospital leadership to develop innovative programming and implement service line strategies. This role is responsible for aligning care delivery across inpatient and day hospital services, mentoring and supporting physician leaders and interdisciplinary teams, optimizing operational and fiscal performance, and building strong relationships with referral sources to enhance access and growth. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for advancing person- and family-centered care for children and adolescents.

What we need from you:

Required:

• Seven or more years of experience in an acute psychiatric or behavioral health setting.
• Experience leading care teams in an acute behavioral setting.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in inpatient or partial hospitalization programs.

Active medical license in the state of Maryland (or eligibility).

Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry, with additional certification or fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate.

Completion of a psychiatry residency training program.

Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

The pay range for this position is $280,000 minimum to $340,000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
