Job summary

Old Town Animal Care Center in Chicago is seeking a collaborative co-Medical Director to shape medical standards, mentor doctors, and keep practicing the medicine you love. You will partner with the Medical Director and lead a 5-DVM team in a full-time hospital leadership role, guiding daily decisions and care.

This position offers in-hospital leadership across preventive care, urgent care, dentistry, surgery, and complex workups, with access to mentorship resources and AVMA membership benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical leadership and mentorship within veterinary settings.
• Ability to mentor doctors and develop a cohesive medical team.
• Proven collaboration with a Medical Director to set standards of care.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

• Partner with our Medical Director as part of the hospital's medical leadership team, sharing responsibility for medical decisions, standards of care, mentorship, and team development.


• Serve as the primary full-time, in-hospital medical leader, giving doctors and team members consistent, day-to-day guidance and support.


• Develop and foster growth in team members, in partnership with NVA's medical and mentorship resources, like the NVA Mentorship program and PetOne Training Center.


• Continue practicing the medicine you love across preventive care, urgent care, dentistry, surgery, and complex medical workups.


• Bring your perspective to a hospital where leadership is collaborative, your voice carries weight, and the responsibility does not rest on one person alone.

• 5 DVM team supported by lead technicians, a surgical lead, pharmacy support, CSRs, and a skilled technician/assistant team.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary of $150,000 - $180,000 plus quarterly production bonuses with no negative accrual.
