Job summary

W. L. Gore & Associates is hiring Design Engineers for Gore Medical in the Phoenix/Flagstaff area.

You will design new medical products or improve existing ones with a cross-functional Gore team and external partners. Expect involvement in DFMA, design reviews, and regulatory considerations within a robust quality system. You will work to advance product concepts from ideation through detailed design, maintain design documentation for IP and regulatory needs, and collaborate with suppliers to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Science discipline with 4 years of design experience, or Master’s with 2 years of design experience
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Solidworks or CREO
• Experience with R&D development cycles and participating in technical design reviews
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to apply engineering evaluation methods like tolerance analyses and material assessments
• Experience documenting product specifications in compliance with ASME standards and GD&T
• Ability to balance customer service, manufacturability, and time to market
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commercialize medical devices and accessories leveraging DFMA principles
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to generate and develop concepts
• Document designs for patent protection and materialize design rationales
• Maintain expertise in CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing methods
• Deliver design packages with specifications, models, and analyses
• Support suppliers and conduct technology transfers and design changes
• Apply structured problem-solving to root cause non-conformities
• Develop portfolio understanding to standardize best practices
