Job summary

Humana is seeking a Medical Coder to assign DRG-related codes and provide coding expertise for accurate documentation and review. The role covers ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding aligned to guidelines, and ongoing collaboration with internal and external teams.

The position includes a TB screening requirement and a 40-hour work week. Opportunities exist to support audits and maintain high-quality coding in a patient-facing environment as part of Humana’s CenterWell Senior Primary Care network.

Qualifications

• Must be certified at least one of CCS, CRC, or CPC.
• Recent graduates with coding experience are encouraged to apply.
• Experience using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and other coding books.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and related sources to assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS per guidelines and company standards.
• Ensure coding is accurate, complete, timely and compliant with requirements.
• Maintain coding information in internal databases and systems.
• Respond to internal requests for coding decisions and documentation questions.
• Identify missing or unclear documentation and escalate as needed.
• Support audits, quality reviews and coding validation activities.
• Maintain productivity and quality for assigned coding work.
• Stay current on coding updates and internal processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve documentation and outcomes.
