Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking an Education and Coding Specialist to drive education excellence across our provider and coding teams. You will serve as the go-to resource for documentation, coding guidelines, NCCI Edits, ICD-10CM, CPT, HCC, and compliance standards.

The role emphasizes developing and executing education work plans to elevate documentation quality, completeness, timeliness, and accuracy for hospital and physician services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in documentation improvement, coding, CDI, compliance, or billing.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology and coding systems.
• Two years specialty coding certification preferred.
• Healthcare revenue cycle experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Access.

Responsibilities

• Drive Education Excellence: guide providers and coding staff on documentation and coding best practices; stay current with NCCI Edits, ICD-10CM, CPT, HCC, and compliance standards.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Associates Degree in Healthcare related field, Medical Record Sciences, or Business/Healthcare Administration or four (4) years coding experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience related to documentation improvement, coding, CDI, compliance, and/or billing for hospital/physician services required.
• Two (2) years specialty coding certification preferred.
• Prior experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position required.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft Access applications.
• Data analytics experience preferred.
• At least one of the following certifications is required: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA.
