Job summary

WellStreet Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder to support our growing Revenue Cycle team. You will accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E&M codes for urgent care encounters while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and productivity standards.

This role requires Epic experience and a detail-oriented mindset. You’ll collaborate with physicians and staff to improve documentation quality, perform coding audits, and support timely claim submission.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years professional medical coding experience.
• Epic experience required.
• Active CPC, RHIT, CCS, or COC certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Code patient encounters for WellStreet Urgent Care Centers using internal coding software.
• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E&M codes based on provider documentation.
• Apply current coding guidelines and regulatory requirements to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
• Utilize coding encoders and other coding resources to support accurate code selection.
• Review provider documentation and communicate with physicians when clarification is needed.
• Perform coding audits and quality reviews to ensure documentation supports assigned codes.
• Assign and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes for services rendered.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle Management and Billing teams to resolve coding-related issues and support timely claim submission.
• Collaborate with clinic staff and providers to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
• Meet established productivity and quality standards while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

WellStreet Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder to support our growing Revenue Cycle team. In this role, you will accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and Evaluation & Management (E&M) codes for urgent care encounters while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, quality standards, and productivity expectations.

What You’ll Do

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional medical coding experience
• Epic experience required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Active CPC, RHIT, CCS, or COC certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Urgent Care coding experience
• Occupational Health coding experience

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E&M coding and leveling
• Experience using a coding encoder
• Knowledge of coding compliance, insurance payers, and the revenue cycle
• Experience working within Epic and/or other Practice Management/Billing systems
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative team player with a positive, professional attitude
• Commitment to maintaining coding accuracy, productivity, and compliance standards
