Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years in a medical-related business environment.
• Billing database software experience.
• Clearinghouse and payer portal experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance industry and third-party payer processes.
• Proven data entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review supporting documentation and posted charges for completeness and accuracy.
• Complete quality review of patient files to ensure claims are billed accurately and comply with payer rules.
• Generate commercial insurance and government program claims in system and review for accuracy.
• Conduct audits regularly.
• Follow up on unbilled claims within required time frames.
• Reference reimbursement policies and stay current with billing regulations.
• Identify opportunities for improved documentation or efficiency and communicate with supervisor.
