Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or completion of a Medical Billing and Coding program of one year or longer (transcript required); or two years of medical billing experience with Medicare/Medicaid in relevant health programs.
• Certification from HFMA, AAHAM, or AAPC; certification maintained throughout employment.
• HIPAA certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
• Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English clearly and professionally.
• Working knowledge of medical billing practices, terminology, and AR processes.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and payer regulations; modifier usage.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; experience with EHR and revenue cycle systems.
• Strong math skills to reconcile balances; data analysis to identify trends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit medical claims to third-party payers accurately and timely.
• Perform advanced medical billing and accounts receivable functions.
• Resolve claim denials and errors; pursue adjustments.
• Verify insurance and reimbursement for services.
• Communicate with providers, payers, and internal teams; maintain confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Plan, organize, and manage workload in high-volume environment.
