Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a skilled insurance billing professional to assemble primary insurance data for patient statements, review adjudicated claims, and work on appeals with multidisciplinary teams. The role involves preparing notices of expected amounts from carriers and patients.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
• Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, to provide excellent customer service, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Reviews claims adjudicated by Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial carriers for billing accuracy.
• Addresses denied/pended claims and works with clinic/registration/coding staff to complete appeals.
• Extracts treatment information from records and assists in composing appeal letters.
• Identifies payor patterns in denials and reports to management for communications to medical departments.
• Makes recommendations to reduce denials and stay current with payor guidelines.
• Utilizes various collection processes including appeals, notices by mail, electronic correspondence, and calls with payor representatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
