Job summary

Medic-Management-Group-LL seeks a Coder I to lead our billing team in obtaining accurate reimbursement for providers’ claims. You will review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural documentation used in billing physician services.

You will interpret progress notes and operative reports to assign CPT/ICD-10 codes, ensure records are complete, and monitor batch processes while complying with HIPAA and regulatory guidelines. Collaboration and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Certified professional coder (AAPC CPC) with CPT and ICD-10 experience.
• Experience with Urology, Behavioral Health, FQHCs, and Hospital Surgical coding is highly desired.
• Minimum two years of CPT/ICD-10 coding experience.
• Strong attention to detail and written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial charge review to determine appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for reporting physician services.
• Interprets progress notes and operative reports to assign CPT/ICD-10 codes and provides coding education as needed.
• Ensures records contain patient info, signatures, and dates for billing accuracy.
• Evaluates documentation for consistency and accurate diagnoses.
• Monitors services to ensure all billable items are captured and coded.
• Analyzes provider documentation to confirm E/M levels with correct CPT codes.
• Manages batch processes for coded charges and uses batch-logging systems to meet audits.
• Reviews documentation to ensure compliance with third-party and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintains knowledge of changing guidelines to ensure practice compliance.
• Demonstrates productivity and participates in internal/client meetings.
• Contributes to editorial content for MMG LinkedIn Blog on coding topics.
• Adheres to HIPAA standards and related requirements.
