Job summary

Southern Careers Institute seeks an Instructor to support student success in billing and coding programs. You will share knowledge and experience to positively impact students’ lives while collaborating with educators across Texas campuses.

The role emphasizes delivering prescribed curriculum, planning lessons, and fostering communication and critical thinking. A strong background in medical terminology and anatomy is required; prior teaching is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in billing and coding.
• Prior postsecondary related teaching experience of at least 1 year in subject matter is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Meet TWC instructor requirements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and applies thorough knowledge of the teaching field and discipline.
• Plans and organizes instruction to maximize student learning; practice excellence in teaching.
• Modifies instructional methods to meet diverse students’ needs.
• Prepare lesson plans and teach course as prescribed by the approved institutional curriculum.
• Encourages development of communication skills and higher order thinking through assignments.
