Job summary

SouthCoast Health is seeking a detail-oriented medical biller to post charges from daily hospital and surgical procedures. You will determine CPT, ICD-10 codes and modifiers, verify diagnoses, and ensure the timely posting of all charges within 24 hours.

The role requires at least 1 year of medical office posting experience, knowledge of Medicare policies, and strong auditing skills to balance batches and identify posting errors.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent; post-secondary medical terminology or coding coursework preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year in medical office posting experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and modifiers.
• Knowledge of Medicare policies and HCPCS.
• Detail-oriented with ability to audit and balance batches.

Responsibilities

• Post daily charges and ensure timely posting within 24 hours.
• Determine CPT/ICD-10 codes and modifiers; verify diagnosis linkage to procedures.
• Audit manual charge posting and adjust errors; prepare final/batch summaries.
• Maintain up-to-date coding information from resources and updates.
• Assist physicians and staff professionally; perform other duties as assigned.
