Oklahoma Eye Surgeons, PLLC is seeking a Medical Biller to support revenue cycle activities in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice in Oklahoma City. The role includes billing, coding, insurance verification and collections for both new and existing patients.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of healthcare billing experience, proficiency with CPT/ ICD-10, and knowledge of ModMed. Strong customer service and the ability to learn new systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma; experience in healthcare billing and customer service preferred.
• Ability to navigate multiple payer types (commercial, government, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO).
• Proficiency with CPT/ICD-10 and Insurance verification is expected.

Responsibilities

• Process data from medical coders to prepare and submit insurance claims.
• Review claims in ModMed Health Collector and scrub before submitting to clearinghouse.
• Correct claims to ensure clean submission and minimize payer rejections.
• Identify billing edits and opportunities for denial resolutions.
• Document accounts accurately and timely and comply with privacy requirements.

SUMMARY:

Oklahoma Eye Surgeons is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to add to our dynamic team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people of all ages in a fast-paced, growing medical office setting. While performing all components of the revenue cycle, including Billing, Coding, Insurance Verification, and the Collections Process for existing and new patients. Supports the vision and mission of Oklahoma Eye Surgeons by providing excellent customer service throughout the entire billing process.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. As a Medical Biller, you will take the data provided by the medical coders and use it to compile and submit claims to insurance companies.

Utilize ModMed - Health Collector system to review the initial claim scrub and billing to the clearinghouse.

• Validate claims and make any corrections necessary to send out clean claims to the payers electronically and/or on paper.

Employ effective and efficient billing techniques and self-directed initiative to resolve all types of billing edits.

• Understand Coding of ophthalmic exams and tests
• Document accounts accurately and timely.
• Follow department policies and procedures defined by the department as required to meet payer and regulatory requirements related to claims billing, payer rejections, and clean claim submission, including procedures related to release of information, record retention, privacy, and confidentiality.

Provide information to team lead in identifying possible areas of concern that impact account billing or collections, accurately and promptly.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school education or equivalent required.
• 5+ years in Healthcare Customer Service and Billing System from a Technical and Functional view (preferred).
• Must have working experience with all payer types: commercial, governmental, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, etc. and the ability to cross over into different payers.
• Experience and ability to identify billing or payer edit opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of ophthalmology billing and ModMed practice management system is a plus.
• Prefer candidate to have experience with CPT, ICD-10, and NCCI coding, proficient in 10 key charge entry, experience with multiple types of insurance and reviewing the cards. Understanding of co-pay, coinsurance, and deductibles.
• Intermediate experience in electronic claim submission and edit resolutions, third party payer insurance verification, collections and denial resolution process.
• Word, Excel and Outlook experience is required. Ability to learn new programs and systems is required.
• Ability to read and evaluate Healthcare Receivables Information.
