Job summary

Baptist Health's Central Alabama Women's Care - South is hiring a Medical Assistant to deliver quality patient care in a prompt, professional manner. You will assist in patient education and relay patient information to physicians, supporting care coordination in a busy clinical setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, medical training or 2 years experience as a MA, and familiarity with clinical tasks such as glucometer use, urinalysis, EKG, and basic lab procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required with medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting.
• Medical training options include LPN, Lab, Radiology, Medical Assistant, EMT, or Physician Office.
• Active Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred; BLS required.
• Knowledge of glucometer, PT/INR, wheelchair, and thermometers.
• Knowledge of urinalysis and EKG.
• Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
• Good customer service and ability to communicate with patients and staff.

This individual shall assist in delivery of patient education. The Medical Assistant is responsible to communicate the patient information to and from physician. The Medical Assistant shall be responsible for direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under the supervision of Physician. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 15 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Needs to speak clearly, vision 20/40 or better (w or w/o correction), hearing sensitivity within normal limits, and ability to distinguish color.
