Responsibilities

Prepares examination rooms for patients; positions and prepares patients for examination by the physician; takes patient histories and checks pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; positions instruments and equipment and hands instruments and materials to the physician as directed; operates EKG or other medical equipment; gives injections, draws blood samples, or renders prescribed treatments as directed; performs routine laboratory tests and procedures; sterilizes and cleans instruments; inventories and orders supplies; serves as receptionist, receives and directs calls, and schedules appointments; collects payments and prepares receipts; maintains medical records and other files; performs secretarial functions such as typing reports and correspondence, transcribing dictation, completing insurance forms, and maintaining financial records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare training program preferred.
