UPMC is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support the UPMC Primary Care White Rose team in York. The shift is Monday-Friday, 6:45am–6:00pm, with no weekends or holidays. Some travel (up to 25%) to assist other York Market offices may be required.

• Check schedules and organize patient flow.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam.
• Take vitals and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Prepare and clean rooms, instruments between visits to maintain infection control.
• Manage inventory and restock supplies in exam/procedure rooms.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health and UPMC policies.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
• Schedule appointments and manage charts for filing.

*Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday full-time, variable schedules ranging between 6:45am-6:00pm - No weekends or holidays!

Travel: Some travel (up to 25%) will be required to assist our other York Market UPMC Primary Care Offices for staffing and support needs.

This position offers a $1,500.00 sign-on bonus with 1-year work commitment!

Responsibilities:

• Check schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
• Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance.
• Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
• Prepare and clean patient, exam, and procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
• Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
• Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
• Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
• Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
• Schedule appointments.
• Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
• Other front office responsibilities, as required.
• Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
