HRMD/Texas Pain Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff by documenting patient encounters in the EMR, performing clinical tasks, and coordinating clinic operations. You will greet patients, take vitals, prepare rooms, collect specimens, and communicate care plans to patients.

Required: high school diploma or equivalent, six months MA experience; CMA/BLS preferred; strong computer skills with EMR. Location: Waxahachie, TX.

  • Minimum six months related Medical Assistant experience.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
  • Ability to perform EKG, draw blood, and administer injections.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Answers phones.
  • Greets patients and takes them back to rooms.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information.
  • Draws blood or collects urine samples when needed.
  • Prepares examination rooms and maintains cleaning lists.
  • Schedules diagnostic testing and follows up on results.
  • Documents care plans, tests, and exam results in EMR.
  • Educates patients about tests and care plans.
  • Escalates non-routine issues to Office Manager or Physician.

The Medical Assistant assists the Physician and nursing staff with documenting the patient encounter into the EMR. They also function to perform various patient care tasks, and exhibit teamwork characteristics with Physicians and other staff. The Medical Assistant is responsible for completing clinic and administrative tasks.Essential FunctionsAnswers phonesPerforms general nursing care to patients by following established standards and proceduresGreets patients and takes them back to roomsInterviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patient chartsMay be required to draw and collect blood or urine samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysisPrepares examination rooms and maintains daily cleaning listFilling out procedure consentsSchedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testingCommunicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the PhysicianFormulates and documents patient care plans, charts, tests, and examination results in the medical recordPrepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains process, and positions patients to capture images requested by the PhysicianEscalates non-routine issues to the Office Manager or PhysicianGood attendance is expected of all employees as a normal condition of workPerforms other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or PhysicianCompetenciesAbility to perform EKG's, draw blood, and administer injectionsAbility to effectively communicate to staff and patientsExcellent bedside manner and ability to make patients feel at ease. This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
