Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA or NRCMA)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) within 14 days

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules tests; obtains films and reports; prepares laboratory specimens according to policy.
• Assists physicians and/or nurses with special procedures and examinations as defined on competency checklist.
• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans and may record patient history elements.
• Electronically submits prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
• Ensures data collected for completed procedures is recorded in medical records.
• Maintains medical records and related documentation; distributes reports and correspondence; files forms.
• Maintains orderliness of examination rooms; stocks supplies; handles required logs and equipment checks.
• Performs clerical duties such as greeting patients, scheduling, pre-certification, insurance forms, and ambulatory care charges.
• Performs simple procedures as directed by nurse or physician as defined on competency checklist.
• Performs vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and documents in medical record.

Education

High School Graduate

1+ years of Medical Assistant experience or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA or NRCMA)

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
