Job description

Job Description

Part‑time position for three weekdays and one Saturday per month. Compensation is $23 per hour plus healthcare benefits.

On a daily basis, provides clinical and technical support to primary care providers. Implements planned care items using electronic tools to ensure efficient workflow, monitors equipment, and conducts clinical testing per OSHA and CLIA standards. Liaises with patients, families, specialists, and all members of the health‑care team to ensure continuity and coordination of care within a patient‑centered medical home.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Apply evidence‑based guidelines from regulatory and specialty groups; perform pre‑visit preparation for all primary care patients.
  • Collaborate with the primary care nurse and provider to conduct “e‑huddles” using the Planned Care Dashboard and ensure complete primary care visits.
  • Prepare patients for telehealth visits, including guidance on video technology.
  • Manage virtual telehealth sessions for multiple providers using Zoom, including setting up exam rooms, admitting patients, and pre‑visit preparation.
  • Support clinical teams with paperwork, records requests, scheduling follow‑ups, and other administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinical and clerical staff to facilitate appropriate telehealth patient flow.
  • Accurately document chief complaints, screening test results, vital signs, and perform CLIA waived tests, EKG, hearing, and vision tests.
  • Prioritize daily work to reduce waiting times; schedule tests and referrals per provider orders.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, safe environment; monitor supplies and document as directed.
  • Set up and stock exam rooms and clean them at the end of each day.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, follow Universal Precautions, and maintain yearly CPR certification as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service, focus on quality of care, teamwork, and meet agency training requirements (EOC, Working Safely, Abuse, etc.).
Qualifications
Required Skills and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited school.
  • Medical Assistant board certification (AAMA, NHA) or registration (AMT).
  • Proficiency with EKG, appointment scheduling, word processing and familiarity with medical testing procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Team‑focused with demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Current CPR certification as required (American Red Cross CPR or AHA BLS/AED).
Preferred Skills
  • Bilingual.
  • Expert knowledge of the electronic health record.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • CPR Certified.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Manual dexterity required for clinical tasks; moderate physical activity, standing, walking, lifting.
  • Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous materials.
Additional Qualifications
  • Communicates clinical/client information accurately to providers.
  • Accurately take messages and communicate effectively on the telephone.
  • Collaborates with other medical assistants, medical provider, and nursing staff.
  • Accesses clients’ charts and health care information while maintaining confidentiality.

Full access to patients’ medical records, accounts, and agency procedural manuals. Confidentiality must be maintained according to CHC policies.
