Job summary

UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care, LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urgent care operations. The role includes checking in patients, taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting providers during examinations.

You will also manage referrals, schedule follow-ups, and help maintain a smooth patient flow. This position requires at least a high school diploma and 1+ year MA experience or appropriate MA/Nursing/EMT credentials, with BLS and CPOE qualifications as applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year MA experience in Hospital, Primary Care, ED, or Urgent Care.
• One of the listed MA certifications at hire or within 12 months if previously employed as MA.
• Graduate of Nursing/LPN/LVn or EMT/Paramedic eligibility at hire.
• CPOE certification within 2 weeks if MA cert not obtained at hire.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate referrals to Specialists.
• Answer patient questions and inform them of status.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and basic tests; notify provider of critical results.
• Conduct point-of-care testing as needed.
• Stock supplies and maintain exam and reception areas.
• Manage medical records and chart scanning.
• Handle calls and correspondence; maintain reception area.
