Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinical operations under limited supervision. You will take vital signs, assist with injections, perform basic diagnostic tests, collect specimens, sterilize equipment, and keep exam rooms ready for patient visits.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of directly-related experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant license is required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Intakes patients by obtaining vital signs and weight.
• Obtains history, chief complaint, medications, allergies and documents appropriately in the EMR.
• Report all pertinent findings to Physicians.
• Manages patient appointments according to the Physician's schedules and protocols.
• Answers messages from patients by clinic policy.
• Handle all medication refills or requests via clinic policy.
• Prepares charts for next scheduled clinic and provides physicians with test results and records.
• Communicates patient information to the physician promptly.
• Handles and directs calls to appropriate departments.
• Provides in-service training and precepts Medical Assistants.
• Participates in developing best practices in clinical workflows.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT) and reports findings to RN/Provider.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Maintains security and integrity of UT San Antonio infrastructure as required.

• CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSSITANT LICENCE REQUIRED | 5 YEARS OF MEDICAL ASSISTANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND HIGHSCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
• Intakes patients by obtaining vital signs and weight.
• Obtains history, chief complaint, medications, allergies and documents appropriately in the EMR.
• Report all pertinent findings to Physicians.
• Manages patient appointments according to the Physician's schedules and protocols.
