Job summary

HealthNet in Indianapolis is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a Nurse Practitioner at the Crispus Attucks High School clinic. You will assist with patient care, vaccine management, EMR documentation, and triage for students.

The role includes preparing exam rooms, assisting with exams, providing injections and immunizations, and performing basic lab work in a busy school-based setting. Monday–Friday shifts provide predictable hours.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA within one month of hire.
• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Requires completion of an accredited educational program for the medical assistant.
• Requires equivalency if presenting a foreign degree.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.

What you'll do as a Medical Assistant at HealthNet:

Perform a variety of patient care services at school based clinic as directed by the Nurse Practitioner. Administrative responsibilities including supply ordering, vaccine management, managing documentation for EMR. Help triage needs of students presenting at the clinic.

Team Structure - 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Medical Assistant

School size - 1200 students, grades 9-12

• Collect patient information.

• Perform general lab work.

When you'll work as a Medical Assistant at HealthNet:

• Full-time.
• Monday-Friday, 6:30AM-2PM or 7AM-3PM

What you'll need as a Medical Assistant at HealthNet:

• Currently not sponsoring work visa.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift, push, and/or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight up to 20-30 pounds is a necessary function of this position.
• Able to perform duties during periods of varied and/or prolonged work hours.
• Will be exposed to all patient elements.
• Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in the English language by both orally and written.
