Job summary

Enloe Medical Center in Northern California seeks a Medical Assistant – Rotating to serve as a patient point of contact across clinics, supporting front and back office functions. This role reports to the Practice Manager and adapts to assignments across sites to handle vacancies and workload surges.

The position requires MA program graduation or equivalent military training, with 2+ years in back-office medical work.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or formal medical service training program in the United States.
• Associates degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field and two years back office medical experience; two years preferred.
• Currently certified as a Medical Assistant is required if the employee qualifies for the position.
• Front medical office experience including reception, scheduling, billing, and medical records functions.

Responsibilities

• Medical Assistant – Rotating serves as a point of contact for patients inside and outside the clinic.
• Rotating position has a home department but works across Enloe clinics to cover vacancies or workload increases.

POSITION SUMMARY

Medical Assistant – Rotating position is designed to be a point of contact for patients both inside and outside the clinic setting. The Rotating position will have a home department but will also be used in the various Enloe clinics to help cover vacancies or help with increases in volume/workload. The Medical Assistant – Rotating will report directly to the Practice Manager who will be responsible for assigning work sites on an as needed basis. The Medical Assistant – Rotating position will also take direction from the Clinic Supervisor at the site in which they are working.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE

Minimum: Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or formal medical service training program of the United States Armed Forces OR Associates degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field (such as LVN, RN, Medical Technologist) and two years back office medical experience OR Currently certified as a Medical Assistant Desired: Front medical office experience to include: reception; registration, scheduling, billing and medical record functions

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

Current CPR certification Current certification as a Medical Assistant (this is only required if the employee qualified for the position because they are certified)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES

Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must demonstrate basic medical / technical competence, a general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment and capable of utilizing clerical and computer skills for a variety of medical office support functions. Must show sensitivity for the patient and their family and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
