Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Edwardsville, IL is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team. You will support physicians by taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, injections and charting in the patient record.

This role offers a day shift, 40 hours per week, no on-call, no weekends or holidays, and a $2,500 sign-on bonus eligible. Comprehensive benefits start on the first day after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• CPR certification preferred or required by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies and maintain cleanliness.
• Obtain vital signs and patient history; ensure accurate charting.
• Perform clinical tasks: phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, and point-of-care testing.
• Triage calls and communicate test results with correct terminology to the provider.

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
