Job summary

BJC Medical Group is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join the Alton, IL area team in outpatient care settings. You will support physicians and clinicians by preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, documenting patient histories and performing clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, injections and point-of-care testing.

The role emphasizes accurate charting, efficient patient throughput and safe handling of specimens, with no on-call requirements and a standard day shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Cert/Reg in Area of Expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks exam room supplies.
• Obtains vital signs and patient history; maintains chart accuracy.
• Performs clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls and relays results to provider with proper terminology.

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
