Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support patient exams by taking vital signs, collecting histories, and assisting clinicians. The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and a current BLS certification, with 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred.

The position offers a 1st Shift, on-site schedule at the High Street location, with a 20-hour work week and a competitive hourly rate.

Job Information:

Summary:

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint. Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:

Performs various clinical/technical tasks, such as: collection of urine (UDS,DOT UDS), breath alcohol testing, respiratory fit testing, audiometry, spirometry, phlebotomy, injections, EKG, Vision, vital signs, lab draws, crutch walking, splinting , basic first aid, etc. (Occupational Health provides 24 hour substance abuse testing.)

Assists with daily patient care, assists clinician, prepares patient for testing/exam, responsible for efficient patient flow. Discharges patients when appropriate.

Maintains medical record and real time data entry. Fax appropriate paperwork to companies/clients in accordance with the HIPPA law. Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients and billing.

Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant. Oversees inventory and stocking of supplies, equipment with QA checks, and linen.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

1-3 years of similar job experience in the medical field preferred.

Required Education:

High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

BLS certification, RMA/CMA/AMT or the equivalent certification that is recognized by the NJ Board of Medical Examiners upon hire.

Hourly Rate:

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20

The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
