Qualifications

• One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
• Medical Assistant Certification is required; acceptable certifications include RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA.
• Graduates within the last 12 months must obtain MA certification within 60 days of employment.
• Candidates with one year MA experience without certification must obtain MA Certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling and canceling patient appointments.
• Checking-in and checking-out patients.
• Entering charges and payments.
• Verifying patient insurance and demographics.
• Collecting co-pays/coinsurance and balances.
• Assisting nursing staff and performing select admin duties.
• May collect patient specimens and take histories/vital signs.
• Prepare exam/treatment rooms and assist in minor procedures.
