Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group in Paducah, KY is seeking a part-time/PRN Medical Assistant to join Prime Care WPV. You will coordinate patient flow, gather medical history, vitals, and medication data, and support clinicians with procedures and in-office testing.

The role requires MA certification (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/NCCT), basic computer skills, and Basic Life Support. HIPAA/OSHA compliance and patient confidentiality are essential aspects of daily work.

• Current MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
• Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.
• Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided.
• Captures patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.
• Maintains compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
• Responds to patient callbacks and prescription refill requests.
• Administers medications and injections as directed by Physician/Provider.
• Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments and related procedures as required by the practice.
• Performs in-office lab tests such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c; sterilizes instruments per CDC guidelines.
• Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
• Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.
• Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided.
• Upon arrival, captures patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.
• Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
• Able to respond to patient call backs and phone in prescription refill requests.
• Able to administer medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider
• Able to perform phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/Provider
• Able to perform EKG's, PFT's spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures, as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider
• Able to perform in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider.
• Able to perform sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines.
• Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed.

Requirements for Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT
• Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
