Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant PRN for our Charlotte Hall facility. The role supports medical staff, handles admissions, collects vital signs, and assists with documentation and orders.

The position offers evening shifts from 3 PM to 11 PM and an hourly rate of $15–$18.50, depending on education and experience. Ideal candidates hold CMA certification, a high school diploma (or GED), and current CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in drug/alcohol and/or residential setting preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant certification by AAMA in lieu of high school diploma/GED.
• Experience as Medical Assistant through employment or internship preferred.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone calls and complete documentation and filing to support medical staff.
• Complete medical records accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with admissions and consent; provide ongoing support during medical appointments.
• Obtain vital signs and urine screens; document outcomes.
• Complete lab requisitions; monitor outcomes and review with medical team.
• Create and distribute client packets efficiently.
• Support prior authorization and medication ordering processes as needed.
• Schedule follow-up medical appointments and external referrals.

Deliverables/Principal Results Expected

• Answer phone calls and complete documentation and filing as needed to support medical staff at the facility.
• Complete medical records accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with admissions and the consent process for clients, providing ongoing support during medical appointments.
• Obtain vital signs and urine screens, documenting outcomes appropriately for medical team review.
• Complete lab requisitions upon admission and as needed, monitoring outcomes and reviewing with the medical team as necessary.
• Create and distribute client packets efficiently.
• Support prior authorization and medication ordering processes as needed.
• Schedule follow-up medical appointments and make external referrals for clients as directed by the medical team.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a drug and alcohol and/or residential setting preferred.
• Active certification as a Certified Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants in lieu of high school diploma/GED.
• Experience as a Medical Assistant through employment or a successful internship preferred.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.
