Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a Medical Assistant for BHMG Primary Care. The role provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic, with a retention bonus for qualifying new hires.

Responsibilities include vitals, patient history, medication reconciliation, EPIC EMR management, scheduling, prior authorizations, and coordinating tests. On-site presence is required; CMA/AMT/NCCT/AAHP certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 1+ year experience as Medical Assistant in clinical setting.
• Hands-on patient care: vitals, history, and basic procedures.
• Completion of accredited MA program with hands-on clinical experience.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, document patient history, and assist with clinical procedures.
• Reconcile medications and coordinate injections, labs, and phlebotomy as needed.
• Manage EPIC EMR, schedule appointments, and process prescription requests.
• Handle prior authorizations and coordinate tests/procedures for patients.
• May perform EKGs and related procedures after competency, as required.

Summary

BHMG Primary Care Retention Bonus! Job Summary: The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines). Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required. Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation. Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus. Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire. BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP. Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure. Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
