Job summary

PM Pediatrics Management Group, LLC in Laurel, MD is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in a pediatric urgent care setting under physician supervision.

You will greet patients, obtain histories and vitals, prepare for X-rays, perform basic labs, assist with wounds, and support the patient care team while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant education or certification preferred.
• Knowledge of EKG placement in children is a plus.
• Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab and venipuncture.
• Demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Strong communications and organizational skills.
• Prior pediatric experience.
• Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willing to learn medical software.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
• Greet and register patients as they arrive.
• Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake.

• Perform and document routine labs (throat and urine cultures; venipuncture preferred).
• Irrigate and assist with wounds.
• Assist in quality control testing in the lab.
• Be an integral part of the patient care team within scope of practice.
• Keep exam rooms and front reception stocked with supplies.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of waiting room area.
• Practice standard safety practices and precautions.
• Assist distressed patients by responding to emergencies and notifying medical team.
• Maintain operations by following policies; report changes to management.
• Keep patient care information confidential.
• Add value by taking on new requests and improving care.
• Assist patients with complaints and service recovery as needed.
• Perform other duties including applying splints and assisting nurses/providers.

The Medical Assistant roles is an opportunity for a pediatric medical assistant to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting and assist with primary patient care based on individual patient needs within their scope of practice under the physician’s direct supervision. This position maintains effective working relationships with all customers, including patients/families, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations

• Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to management team
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential
• Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and challenging requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Assistant patients with complaints and taking an active role in service recovery when needed
• Perform other duties as needed including apply splints and assisting the nurse and/or provider in other medical procedures
• Provide exceptional customer services

Qualifications

• Prior experience and/or education as a Medical Assistant

Compensation:
$17 - $27/hour

The salary/rate range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary/rate for this role. Please note that actual salaries/rates may vary within this range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and based on experience and qualifications.
