Job summary

Atrius Health in Concord, MA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our pediatric team. You will support clinicians, prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, and maintain accurate EMR records.

Hourly pay ranges from $16.00 to $25.00, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm. Benefits are available for eligible staff.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate or Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Graduate of medical assistant certification program (preferred).
  • ACLS may be required based on specialty; BLS within 30 days of hire (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department.
  • Proven knowledge of reagent stability and storage; understanding testing procedure and results.
  • Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures.
  • Prepare patient for examination; measures vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight and height.
  • Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests; advise patients of preparation or pre-visit testing.
  • Ensure EMR is updated with medical information, including demographics, medications, allergies and chief complaints.
  • Keep patients informed of visit status, delays and other relevant information.
  • Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
  • Assist in resolving minor patient concerns and complaints as appropriate.
  • Order and perform point-of-care testing (waived tests such as strep, urine, hCG and glucose).

Position Details
  • Location: 330 Baker Ave, Concord, MA
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize patient appointment availability
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
  • Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
  • Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department Advises patients of preparation or pre-visit testing required for exams specific to the department
  • Ensures patients' electronic medical record (EMR) is updated with medical information, including recent testing and consultations, including confirming demographic information, medications, allergies and chief medical complaints, and ensuring the EMR patient data is accurate and up to date
  • Keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information
  • Reconcile medications and sets up pending refills Discontinues prescriptions that are no longer active
  • Assists in resolving minor patients' concerns and complaints as appropriate
  • Orders and performs point of care testing on patients; classified as waived testing (e.g, strep, urine, hcg and glucose testing)

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of medical assistant certification program
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department
  • Proven knowledge of reagent stability and storage
  • Demonstrated understanding of the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
  • Computer experience along with the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs. Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
