Job summary

Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, part of LifeBridge Health, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support examinations and patient flow in a pediatric setting. Responsibilities include preparing rooms, taking vital signs, interviewing patients, and assisting providers during procedures.

Qualifications include a HS Diploma/GED, Medical Assistant training, and BLS CPR; prior pediatric MA experience is strongly preferred. Travel to Sinai or Quarry Lake may occur as staffing changes.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant curriculum or equivalent.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR required.
  • Prior Medical Assistant experience in Pediatrics strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and preparation prior to and during examination by health care providers.
  • Prepares examination/treatment rooms for examinations of patients by properly positioning instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Interviews patients to obtain reasons for visit, such as nature of complaint, physical problems, symptoms of illness, etc.
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing various routine physical assessments such as vital signs, height, weight, blood pressure, etc.
  • Maintains logs for refrigerator temperature (medications and specimens) and weekly exam room cleaning.
  • Maintains timely monitoring and documentation (tracking) of physician ordered laboratory tests, radiology, ultrasound, etc.
  • Performs point of care testing according to departmental protocols and follows OSHA guidelines in obtaining and handling specimens.
  • Administers medication by oral, intramuscular or subcutaneous routes under physician order. Performs general clerical duties necessary to support physician office practice.
  • Updates and maintains patient chart, confidential files and other departmental records.
  • Prepares inventory of supplies to determine items to be replenished. Reviews current supplies for expiration dates. Stocks all medical supplies.
  • May assist in registration and updating information on patient's record.

Job description

  • Performs a variety of clinical responsibilities to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Performs other functions to support hospital and departmental requirements. Works proactively and in partnership with other staff, contributing to effective operations. Delivers service in conjunction with the hospital's customer service standards and expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: HS Diploma/GED preferred, completion of Medical Assistant curriculum or equivalent
  • Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR required
  • Experience: Prior Medical Assistant experience in Pediatrics strongly preferred

Travel may be required to Sinai or Quarry Lake location if there are any staffing changes.

Pay Range: $16.50 to $27.29 Based On Experience
